A trio of East Stroudsburg adults convicted of child abuse were handed lengthy state sentences on Tuesday

Rafeal Ray Olivo and his wife, Christina Nazario, who were each found guilty at trial of multiple felonies on February 10, could both spend the next decade behind bars in a State Correctional Institute.

The Honorable Jonathan Mark sentenced Olivo, 36, of East Stroudsburg, to an aggregate term of 79 to 158 months (6 years, 7 months to 13 years, 2 months) in a State Correctional Facility with a consecutive period of three years' probation.

Nazario, Olivo's co-defendant, received a sentence of 60 months to 120 months (5 years to 10 years) with a consecutive period of three years' probation.

Judge Mark also sentenced Terrell Colon, who was convicted in a separate trial of Misdemeanor Endangering the Welfare of a Child, to one to three years in a State Correctional Institute.

Olivo was convicted of three counts of Felony Endangering Welfare of Children, three counts of Felony Criminal Conspiracy to Endanger the Welfare of Children, two counts of Misdemeanor Simple Assaults and two counts of Summary Harassment. Nazario was convicted of three counts of Felony Endangering Welfare of Children and three counts of Felony Criminal Conspiracy to Endanger the Welfare of Children.

In imposing sentence, Judge Mark remarked that neither Olivo or Nazario had showed any remorse for their crimes, which included years of physical, emotional, verbal and spiritual abuse on a daily basis of the three minor victims.

Colon, 30, of East Stroudsburg, was convicted after a two-day trial in February of beating the minor victim with a belt approximately 20 times.

Judge Mark noted that not only had Colon failed to believably demonstrate any remorse, but Colon had attempted on several occasions to lay the blame for the beating on the victims mother in an ever-shifting narrative that only changed to further Colons interests.

Olivo was represented throughout his case by Attorney Brian Gaglione of Stroudsburg. Nazario was represented by Eric Closs of the Monroe County Public Defender's Office.

Colon was represented by Attorney Donald Leeth of Stroudsburg.
