No one was home or injured when a Wednesday afternoon fire destroyed a Longwoods Drive residence in Chestnuthill Township.

A neighbor saw flames shooting through the roof of the two-story house and called 911. West End, Blue Ridge Hook & Ladder and Polk Township fire companies responded, along with West End Ambulance and state police.

Don Brink said he and his family had been living in the house since restoring it five years ago. The family was out when the fire started and rushed home after being contacted.

A state police fire marshal was contacted to investigate the fire's cause and exact point of origin in the home. The house is insured, but the family was trying to make arrangements for a place to stay after being displaced.
