Eldred man charged in domestic assault

Gary Michael Kauffmann, 32, was charged with assaulting his girlfriend Wednesday in their Eldred Township home.

Kauffmann’s girlfriend managed to escape their Mary Lane residence and call 911. Police later arrived and saw large abrasions and red marks on her throat and neck area, as well as abrasions on her face and upper body.

Kauffmann was placed in Monroe County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 bail and is awaiting a district court hearing.
