Escaped prisoner Captured and returned to the Monroe County Correctional Facility

Snydersville - On Friday, February 02, 2018 at approximately 1:45 p.m. the Monroe County Correctional Facility was notified that an inmate, James Arthur BOCK, 45 years old from Stroudsburg, was being returned to the facility from a special furlough. While traveling on Route 33 near the Snydersville off-ramp BOCK escaped from the transport vehicle. BOCK was being transported by a private passenger van.

PA State Police, Stroudsburg and Monroe County Detectives responded to the facility. PA State Police Stroudsburg began a search of the immediate area.

Monroe County Detectives began an investigation and obtained a warrant from on-call District Judge Kresge for Escape, F-3 and Flight to Avoid Apprehension, Trial or Punishment, M-2.

BOCK was known to be in the Stroudsburg area, notification was made to Stroud Area Regional Police Department.

On Saturday, February 03, 2018 Stroud Area Regional Police Officers encountered BOCK and took him into custody.

BOCK was lodged at the Monroe County Correctional Facility and video arraigned. Bail was set at $75,000 on the new charges.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 16, 2018 10:00 A.M. before District Judge Higgins.
