Monroe County Man Killed While Going to Work During the Storm in Effort

CHESTNUTHILL TOWNSHIP: Matthew Ryan, 31 of Kunkletown was traveling east on Jonas Rd just before Galaxy Way in his 2018 Subaru Impreza when the storm hit and blew over a tree crashing down on the car collapsing the roof on top of him. The vehicle traveled approximately 100 feet or so before coming to a stop. State Police state that he was wearing lap and shoulder belts at the time.

At 3:51 pm as we reported earlier West End Volunteer Fire Co., West End Ambulance, and State Police were dispatched to the scene where it was determined that the man had expired.

Monroe County Coroner Thomas Yanik was called to the scene to make the official death pronouncement and to remove the body from the vehicle. He did not identify the man or his actual age as some of the family have not been notified as of yet.

UPDATE: The Monroe County Coroner has Identified the driver as Matthew Ryan, 31 of Kunkletown.
