Pocono Township Sobriety Checkpoint Nets 10 DUI Arrests and 19 Citations for Vehicle Code Violations

POCONO TOWNSHIP, Monroe County  On August 25th, 2017 a Sobriety Checkpoint was conducted on Route 611 in Pocono Township. Detectives from the Monroe County Office of the District Attorney in conjunction with Pocono Township Police coordinated the checkpoint with law enforcement officers from the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department. Also assisting was a paramedic from Pocono Mountain Regional EMS and two Pennsylvania State Constables.

The Monroe County Detectives work with the North Central Regional DUI Enforcement Program to conduct these checkpoints and reported the following results:

More than 500 vehicles came through the checkpoint which resulted in 10 arrests for Driving Under the Influence of drugs or alcohol.

The persons arrested and charged were:

- Tyler Marcy, 19 of Tannersville, PA

- David Sapp, 39 of Augusta, NJ

- Tyvon Edwards, 20 of East Stroudsburg, PA

- Richard McNinch, 37 of Wind Gap, PA

- Bradley Vangorder, 36 of Stroudsburg, PA

- Kevin Folio, 35 of Cresco, PA

- Bryce Bassin, 45 of Upper Montclair, NJ

- Andrew Smith, 19 of Cresco, PA

- Brandon Astacio, 43 of East Stroudsburg, PA

- Donald Paul Miller, 24 of Tannersville, PA

The above mentioned individuals will appear before MDJ Thomas Olsen at a later date.

In addition to the 10 arrests for DUI, 19 citations were issued for various vehicle code violations.

Sobriety Checkpoints are funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
