Snydersville Diner goes on the market
Apricot crumb, pineapple cheese, and a dozen other varieties of pies are stacked on shelves in a tall, vertical showcase inside the entrance of the Snydersville Diner. It is the restaurant's specialty — local people know where to go if they want a good dessert.
The landmark Hamilton Township restaurant, which has operated for 80 years, is for sale. The owner, Bill Kaperski is ready to retire.
The bustle of the breakfast crowd extends far beyond the customary meal period. Regulars take their places at self-appointed tables and stools at the counter, as they hash out politics and the day's events over plates of creamed chipped beef and homemade muffins.
"It's been there since the 30s," said Michael J. Baxter of Michael J. Baxter and Associates Commercial Real Estate, who is handling the sale. "It's one of our oldest established diners and has been well maintained all these years. It has been and continues to be a very successful market."
The diner is on an acre and a half and has its own sewer plant. Located at the intersection of Easton Belmont Pike and Route 209, it has a frontage on the heavily traveled route, and sits less than a mile from Route 33.
The restaurant features comfort food, seats 185 people, and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The asking price is $1.49 million.
"We've gotten a fair amount of interest already because we have a successful restaurant on the market," Baxter said. "Sometimes we get restaurants on the market that aren't doing so well. This one has a long track record of success."
Baxter said a new owner has the potential to buy a liquor license and keep the restaurant open later in the day.
