The Stroud Area Regional Police Department is raising funds to re-establish our K9 unit. The initial costs for establishing this unit are fairly high. Once the program is established the ongoing maintenance costs are minimal to maintain the program. The benefits to the police department and more so the community we serve will be tremendous. K-9's serve many purposes, not just apprehending criminals or finding drugs, but bringing the community closer to its police department and understanding the work we do.
We are reaching out to businesses, community members, and agencies willing to donate towards getting our program back up and running. Any donation that you make would assist us in reaching this goal.
Our initial start-up costs are estimated to be approx. $65,000 per K-9, but can quickly be deterred with your donation.
This initial amount goes towards purchasing and training a K-9 as well as outfitting vehicles specifically for the K9. With your assistance, we can reach this goal and have our unit up and running in a short period of time. We would like to keep the community involved in the program and these donations would aid in doing so.
If you wish to contribute to this great cause, donations and checks can be made to the Stroud Area Regional Police Commission Foundation, with a footnote designating that it is for the K-9 unit. All donations are tax deductible when contributed through the SARPCF foundation.
