Teri VanBritsom went over to her family farm yesterday (6/17/15) on Sugar Hollow Road between the Birches and the Birches III in Effort were she found the farmhouse in shambles along with damage to the trailer on the farm, the barn and vehicles.

The vandals caused thousands of dollars worth of damage, broke windows, smashed glass objects, threw knives in to the walls, damaged doors, smashed lights, put holes in the sheetrock, smashed a windshield on a vehicle on the property and ransacked everything.

Teri says seeing it boarded up was the hardest part. Surreal. It was just a home built in the 1800s by my great grandparents. Teri's family came to the area in the 1700's.

Terri also wanted to say  thanks to the Officers at Fern Ridge State Police for their help today. They went into ALL of the house to make sure it was clear so we could be safe going in. They were polite, professional and thorough. I don't think they get enough credit for what they do, and I want you all to know they really were there for us at a time we were kind of in shock...

The perpetrators left some things behind and police were able to get fingerprints. We have some pieces of the puzzle Teri says but if you know anyone that has been on a property between Birches and Birches III on Sugar Hollow Road, please call Fern Ridge State Police at 570-646-2271 or Teri at 570-236-4272.
