Bad Accident at Rt 115 and Gilbert Rd Effort

UPDATE: 9/5/2015 According to the State Police, Mae Hagerty, 66, of Stroudsburg passed away this morning from the injuries from the accident. Mae Hagerty was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, Marybeth Maresca was wearing a seatbelt police stated.

Approx 3:15 this afternoon a white vehicle was turning left on to Gilbert Road from Rt 115 North bound when a white pickup truck driven by Marybeth Maresca, 60, of Effort traveling south on Rt 115 apparently ran the red light according to people that we spoke to at the scene hitting the white care forcing it almost into the old Effort Garage building.

The driver of the white car Marybeth Maresca, 60, of Effort had to be extricated from the car and flown to the hospital. State Police did tell us at the scene that there were no fatalities at the time, but as we waited for the tow trucks to load up they had to wait for the accident investigation.

West End Volunteer Fire, West End Ambulance, Central Pocono Ambulance, Leigh High Valley Hospital Helicopter and PA State Police responded to the scene. We will update the story if we get any further information. The scene was cleaned up shortly after 5pm.
