Howard Thomas Williams, 29, of Effort, is charged in the October burglary of a Scots Pine Lane residence, in Chestnuthill Township, from which items including jewelry were taken.

Charged with burglary, criminal trespassing and receiving stolen property, Williams posted bail and was awaiting a district court hearing as of Thursday.

Police responded at 6:26 p.m. Oct. 9 and spoke with the homeowner, who said she had returned home to find items missing from her bedroom. The items included a box containing jewelry and a nook tablet.

The homeowner's daughter said she had seen a man, later identified in a photo lineup as Williams, exit the house, carrying something under his right arm to his vehicle, and then re-enter the house. She said she asked him what he was doing, to which he said he had dealings with someone known to the family, entered his vehicle and drove away.

Police later retrieved jewelry, allegedly sold by Williams to area stores, which the homeowner identified as hers.
