Monroe inmate faces new drug charges after routine search reveals Crystal Meth

Monroe County District Attorney Detective Michael Kreischer was dispatched to the Monroe County Correctional Facility (MCCF) earlier today after correctional officers discovered suspected crystal meth concealed on the person of defendant Jennifer GONGORA, 31 years of age of Kunkletown. GONGORA was originally arrested by officers from the Mahoning Valley Police Department on an outstanding Monroe County warrant and subsequently housed at the Carbon County Correctional Facility awaiting transport to the Monroe County Correctional Facility.

Once at the Monroe County Correctional Facility GONGORA was searched during routine processing by MCCF corrections officers. During the search, a packet of suspected crystal methamphetamine was located on her person. When questioned GONGORA admitted the substance to be crystal methamphetamine and further admitted to using other illicit drugs, namely heroin. As a result of the incident GONGORA was charged by detective Kreischer with Possession of a controlled substance (M), Purchase or receipt of controlled substance (M), Possession of drug paraphernalia (M), Possession of controlled substance contraband by inmate prohibited (F2).

GONGORA will be video arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Jolana Krawitz and will remain in jail on her original Monroe County charges pending a preliminary hearing on these new drug charges.
